Halloween brought all varieties of little devils to the studio and we had great family fun as it was the end of the half term school holidays the children coming through the studio doors were excited and looking forward to a sugar intake of major chocolate proportions.

But did you have a cute staffordshire terrier called Tilly modelling a witches hat?

What a cutie… and the dog was nice too!

August ! The New British Rainy season ?Is our climate now like the Seychelles and the rest of those beautiful Islands in the Indian Ocean? Photography By Tanya Weddings August 2010 were lucky and blessed with beautiful weather we managed to escape the dark clouds that seem to be ever present on the horizon ready to deposit their load on hundreds of happy people and how many guests take along the wet weather accessory The Umbrella?

There are many things to consider when planning a wedding but the one that is in the back of every brides mind is “Will the sun shine and the weather be kind ? Planning is key as in the 18 years I have been in the wedding industry having a Plan B is crucial.

Where does todays Bride start? Yes she wants to look dazzling in those beautiful silk shoes but if the rain has left its mark on the ground then theres a chance it will on her shoes that is why we always take along protective cloths so that if the weather does ease the outdoor shooting opportunities are still achievable.

Certain fabrics tend to show the rain spots that are unavoidable in the dash from the car to the ceremony but soon evaporate in all the excitement. On the brighter side if we didnt have any rain we wouldnt have such a beautiful lush green country with stunning backdrops for the gorgeous images to un fold.

But the grooms ,how do they prepare? Most gents seems to escape the water droplets on their morning suits and their hair is usually short and able to take a quick dash of a spring shower without even having a strand out of place ! yes ladies I know what you are thinking its not fair! But wouldnt you want your prince charming to arrive imacculate rather than a drowned rat?

Calling all posy pets! Summer school holidays are here! Perfect timing to bring along Bob the dog or Harold the hamster for a pet portrait.

They re great fun and when everyone is lending a hand to help with Ronnie rabbit no one has time to feel uneasy in front of the camera.

Our pets are an important member of the family and as the proud owner of Alfie the Golden Retriever I know how much fun they bring and the rewards are endless.Alfie like most spoilt pets thinks he’ s human though and has even had several shoots at Photography By Tanya aka his mummy!

Whether its black or white images or colour including your pet really adds a unique feel to your family portrait.

See Alfie posing on the about page of our website.( He knows he’s handsome!)

So when you re running outof ideas on how to entertain those lively youngsters pick up the phone and make that call to book your session once its done you will be impressively organised too to be able to order dare I say it ( Christmas presents) but this time without the last minute stress or run out of time good ideas.

Return of the show stopper’s !

They re back!

Every bride wants one, every photographer loves the photographic opportunities they present in abundance.

Yes the horse and carriage is back.

This past weekend saw both Saturday and Sunday’s wedding’s with horse and carriages taking centre stage with my wedding couples.

While Saturday’s horses were black strong and ready to cope with the bustle of St Mary’s market place position in Ilkeston town Sundays white horses were young and their colour added to the dramatic backdrop at Tutbury.

Even the lady vicar stepped up onto the foot well of the carriage onto its approach to Tutbury church and rode in style down the church path!

Vicar Rides in Style

To have one or not to have one is the question?

Consider the images and all their possibilities which as an admirer of horses since I was young and entered the win a pony’ competition by WH Smiths many years ago to no avail just as well really as after I had popped the entry into the post box it was followed by my fathers comments of “ where on earth do you think you could keep it if you won?”

Horses particularly younger ones are not fans of blowing veils and party popper style confetti or any other object or sharp movement and don’t forget the wedding present they leave behind on the pavement.

But all in all my vote would definitely be yes as the images are beautiful and from someone who loves fairytales I am sure every lady wants to have just married her prince and be whisked off in a beautiful horse drawn carriage to a lavish party in a beautiful dress!
